The best quality Teakwood grows slowly in hot and humid mountainous jungle areas. To recognise a good quality teakwood, features to look for are : a warm honey colour, a regular vein and a smooth touch.
Teakwood is at least 30 years old before being transformed and dried for 3 years minimum.
Maintenance : Teak is an oily wood. Though protected by its natural oil, it becomes grey when soiling . To restore its honey colour, clean the wood with diluted Plastimo Sea 77. Once wood is dry, apply Sea 77 oil with a rag without saturating the wood.
