Starbrite Lube Tube for Lower Unit Flushing & Filling

The following directions are only for a general application, and should not be used in place of the instructions in your specific engine’s service manual
READ ALL DIRECTIONS BEFORE ATTEMPTING
DRAINING
Lower unit should be in the down and locked position. Place used lubricant container under lower drain plug. Remove lower drain plug. Remove upper plug and drain gear lube into container. Dispose of used oil in a manner consistent with local and/or federal laws and regulations.
FLUSHING If oil appears excessively dirty, attach Star brite Lube Tube to a NEW bottle of Star brite’s Lower Unit Gear Lube. Use your engine’s required gear oil High Viscosity 80w90 or Hypoid 90w. Attach the end of the Lube Tube with the female coupling to the end of the lubricant tube. Connect the opposite end of the Lube Tube to the upper plug in your lower unit and squeeze lubricant tube to force lubricant through your engine’s gear box. Allow lubricant to drain into container used for normal draining.
FILLING
Remove cap from lubricant tube and cut nozzle off, leaving screw threads intact. Securely attach Star brite Lube Tube female coupling end to lubricant tube. Attach opposite end of Lube Tube to lower drain hole. Firmly squeeze lubricant tube, starting at end furthest from engine. As the lubricant tube becomes completely empty, squeeze plastic lock to prevent backflow. Unscrew used lubricant tube and attach new tube. Continue in this manner until lubricant reaches the upper drain plug opening, then securely replace upper plug. Remove Lube Tube from lower plug and quickly replace lower drain plug. Tighten plugs.
NOTE: Separate adapter may be necessary depending on your engine make and model.
Metal threaded fitting (3/8-16) fits Mercruiser, OMC, Evinrude”, Johnson, Honda (70 hp & up), Volvo, Force”, Mercury (US origin models), and Gamefisher lower units. Check Owner’s manual to confirm exact size needed.
